Important Information
for Parents and Employers

Our Babysitting Certificate of Completion and Wallet Card recognizes a student's commitment to gain the knowledge and skills needed to handle the challenges of babysitting. It is not a degree or license or accreditation.

Continuing Education

An online class cannot cover hands-on topics such as emergency first aid and CPR. We recommend that students continue their education by supplementing this course with a Basic First Aid and pediatric CPR class.

Q How old must I be to take the class and babysit?
A We recommend our class for 11-17 year olds, and we've had students older who've enjoyed our course.

The legal age to babysit is different in every city. Please ask your police department or child protective services for this information.

Q I can't see what you're typing to me on Live Help.
A

Are you using a Mac or Web TV console? Our Live Help program uses javascript, and Mac and Web TV do not support javascript. Sorry about that! Here's what to do:

Call us at 760-631-1498, or email us at Customer Service.
We will be happy to answer any question you have as quickly as possible.

Q I am clicking on "Start Class" and my registration number doesn't work?
A

You must register for the class before you can begin classes. Please go to the register button on any page of our site and click on it. Fill in the registration information. This allows us to send you your certificate, and it activates your pass to the class.

Q I put my passcodes in, and the verification code just disappeared. What is going on? How do I fix it?
A

Are you using Internet Explorer 6? It's a great program, but there is an annoying bug in that version of the browser that bounces registration codes two to three times before it will verify them. This has nothing to do with our program. It's just the way that browser works. Here's how to fix it: click on the box that says "remember passcode". Enter your verification code with capital letters, no spaces three times. On the third time, it should accept it and be no further trouble to you.

Q When I fill out the credit card information, whose name should I use? Mine or the student's?
A

Please input the name of the cardholder when you sign up. You will have an opportunity to change that name to the student's name at registration.

Q On my browser, when I click START CLASS or REGISTER the entry box says Username and Passcode. Where do I fill in the Registration number and Verification Code I got from your e-mail?
A

Please input your registration number where it says "Username". Please input your verification code where it says "Passcode". Unfortunately, these are standard on browsers and we have no way of changing these boxes to match our system. We're sorry for any confusion.

Q I paid, but I clicked past the page that had my entry codes on it when I signed up. Then I didn't get an e-mail back. What happened? What do I do next?
A

If there's a typo in your e-mail address, or your e-mail box is full, we won't be able to send you a passcode. Please contact us here at Customer Service

You can also contact us via e-mail by clicking here. We ask for you to write us via e-mail so we'll have a correct address for you. Give us your first and last name, how you signed up (credit or mail). We'll look up your record and re-send you the information.

Q How long is the pass to the class good for?
A

Your pass is good for a whole year from the date you register. That means that you have a year to earn your certificate, finish any badge or interest projects you may have, and have access to all the class materials. That means you have access to:

Live Help: get your questions about our babysitting material answered
All Six Chapters
Class Notes and Summaries for Each Chapter
Downloadable versions of the business forms
Our online "Babysitter's Encyclopedia" that has all your how to questions about child care, babysitting and your babysitting business answered.

Q I would like to do this with my Troop at our meetings, but we do not have computers. Can we order the material and do everything on paper and send it in? Or is there another way?
A

We don't offer the class on paper or on CD-ROM because we update it too often. We are constantly reviewing, perfecting and testing the course based on input from Councils and Babysitters from around the world. Using the Internet to deliver the course means that sitters get the very latest information. It's one of the strengths of the Internet, to be able to edit and update materials and get those materials to users instantly when they log in.

What girls who do not have computers do is arrange a couple of troop meetings to be held at the local library computer center and go through the course there. That way they have free computers and Internet access.

Q I passed the test, and you sent my kit and certificate. Where is my badge or award?
A

Please note that Babysittingclass.com will not send any badge awards you may earn to you. These should be ordered through your own local Council store when you complete the requirements for each one. If you earned an award while completing our class, talk to your Troop Leader.
